Henry Mead died from wounds on 4th October, 1914, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 39th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery had gone to France at the beginning of the war as part of 1st Division and in September had seen action during the Battle of the Aisne.
